Reminders
Arrival and Collection Times
All children should enter and leave school via their external classroom door.
All children should arrive between 8.45am to 8.55am.
All children should be collected at 3.20pm.
Breakfast Club & After School Club
Children in Year R, 1 to 6 should arrive as normal and be taken to the Breakfast Club room. They will be taken to their classroom ready for lessons. Breakfast Club will be open from 7.45am. After School Club will be open until 5.45pm.
P.E.
Children in Class Two will need to ensure that their P.E. kit is in school on a Monday and Friday. P.E. kits should consist of jogging bottoms, shorts, a house-coloured t-shirt, jumper and trainers.

Spellings
Your child will be taught a new spelling rule to practise during the week, ready for a spelling test on Friday. Please spend time at home practising these spellings using ‘look, say, cover, write and check’ in the Spelling Homework Booklets, as well as discussing the spelling rule. Please ensure spelling books are kept in school bags.
English
In Year Two, children learn to orally retell different types of texts using story maps and actions. We ask all parents to support children with learning these texts at home orally, so that children can use them to create their own versions. The table below highlights the text types and texts that we are learning in Year Two. Please download the texts and practise retelling them. Aim to retell the texts with actions and expression!

Maths
As a school, we place emphasis on teaching Maths using a Maths Mastery approach. We place emphasis on children learning to develop their fluency, reasoning and problem solving skills. We use Maths No Problem Maths Textbooks and Workbooks in school.

Our Class Country is Rwanda!
We will be learning all about Rwanda. We will investigate where it is in the world and find out facts about what it is like to go to school in Rwanda.

Autumn One - History
The History topic for Autumn One is called 'Flight'. The children will learn when the first plane was invented, explore some of the ways we find out about the past and understand the importance of the Wright Brothers, Amy Johnson and Amelia Earhart. The children will visit the Bournemouth Aviation Museum on Thursday 15th October 2026.
