Reminders
Arrival and Collection Times
All children should enter and leave school via their external classroom door.
All children should arrive between 8.45am – 8.55am.
All children should be collected at 3.20pm.
Breakfast Club & After School Club - Children in Year R,1 to 6 should arrive as normal and be taken to Breakfast Club room. They will be taken to their Classroom ready for lessons. Breakfast Club will be open from 7.45am. After School Club will be open until 5.45pm.
P.E.
Children in Class 1 will need their P.E. kits on Monday and Thursday. Please note that all children are expected to wear school uniform to school. This means that children will be expected to bring their P.E. kit to school and to change into it at school. All clothing and personal belongings should be clearly marked with your child’s name. P.E. kits should consist of jogging bottoms, shorts, a house-coloured t-shirt, jumper and trainers.

English
In Year 1, children practise orally rehearsing sentences and carefully segmenting sounds to spell words. They learn to use capital letters, finger spaces, and full stops, and gradually progress to writing short narratives.

Maths No Problem
As a school, we place emphasis on teaching Maths using a Maths Mastery approach. We place emphasis on children learning to develop their fluency, reasoning and problem solving skills. Class Country
We will be learning all about England. We will investigate where it is in the world and find out facts about what it is like to live in England.
World Book Day 2026
The children had a wonderful time celebrating World Book Day. The children looked fantastic and enjoyed a workshop with local author, Ali Sparkes.

Lots of excitement today as Year 1 welcomed Steel to our classroom! Thank you to FOSLSS from Year 1 for organising.

Great Fire of London Day
Another day of excitement in Year 1 as we had a Great Fire of London day where we set fire to our Tudor houses that we made and made some Great Fire of London artwork. We had lots of fun and even enjoyed toasting some marshmallows after!
